Acela's Monterra trucks are far more than refurbished Stewart & Stevenson Light to Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTVs). Through Acela's Certified Reset Program, these vehicles are transformed into durable, high-performance trucks with new interiors, and enhanced structural integrity.

The Reality of LMTV Condition

The common misconception that Monterra trucks are simply repainted LMTVs undermines the extensive work involved. The LMTVs arriving at Acela's facility are often in poor condition: missing doors, turret covers, and covered in rust, grime, and debris.  

Certified Reset Program: The Rebuild Process

1. Inspection and Teardown:‍

Each LMTV that is approved for the Acela Certified Reset Process, undergoes thorough disassembly. Frame-mounted parts are removed, inspected, and cataloged to determine salvageable components.

2. Paint and Bodywork:

The chassis and salvaged parts are acid-washed to eliminate rust. Non-original features such as drilled holes or dents are repaired. Any necessary welding is performed before the application of a durable Kevlar coating.

The chassis and salvaged parts are painted in standard black, while the cab and doors are finished according to customer specifications.

3. Interior Overhaul:

Only the cab frame and wiring harness are reused; the rest of the interior is completely new.

The reassembly process includes installing sound-deadening insulation, lighting, headliners, back paneling, industrial floor mats, heating and cooling systems, and air ride seating. ‍

4. Chassis Rebuild:

The chassis is fitted with new air conditioning components, brackets, bumpers, and air lines. Cruise control wiring is integrated, and new tires with powder-coated wheels are installed. Custom exhaust systems are added if requested.

5. Final Assembly and Testing:

Once the cab is mounted on the chassis, the dashboard, steering wheel, and wiring are connected. Each vehicle undergoes performance testing to ensure optimal functionality before the final detailing and shipment.
